Social Enterprise 2021 Cohort
Early-stage social entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs are catalytic innovators who produce disruptive innovations, but often face momentous obstacles. Our program is designed to support high potential social entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs during the initial phases of development.
Pharr Andrews joined the Hunt Institute’s Social Enterprise 2021 Cohort as an Intrapreneur, in order to continue to aim for solutions to address the energy poverty gap exasperated by the effects of climate change. Through her newly inspired initiative “Energy Equip”, she is working to increase awareness surrounding these issues, provide basic energy services in low-income areas, and address symptoms of energy poverty through education, resources, and expanding partnerships.
Waste to energy
Matthew Sheldon joined the Hunt Institute’s Social Enterprise 2021 Cohort as an Intrapreneur. Inspiring corporate calls-to-action regarding diverting waste from landfills and decreasing environmental impact is a proven passion of Sheldon’s. His project focuses on waste to energy, a circular system to recover food waste and bioplastics and convert them into energy. This system helps divert waste from landfills, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and create new revenue streams. A coalition of local companies, government organizations, and academia will be created to bring forward a solution in DFW, while also creating a template to replicate in other regions.
The Young Social Innovators & Social Entrepreneurs Program
Dr. Candice Bledsoe joined the Social Enterprise 2021 Cohort as an Intrapreneur with her most recent project, The Young Social Innovators & Social Entrepreneurs Program which is aiming to develop minority youth as change agents and young entrepreneurs through the promotion of personal development, academic excellence, and social change.
Mohammed Njie joined the Hunt Institute’s Social Enterprise 2021 Cohort as a Social Entrepreneur with a passion for developing sustainable energy sources. Mohammed founded Janta Energy, a social enterprise, with the goal of bringing clean, reliable energy to The Gambia. His vision is to see all rural areas in Africa to have access to reliable affordable clean energy in his lifetime.
